Kierstin Sanford is a dancer and instructor based in Richmond, Virginia, whose career blends classical training and community-centered teaching. She grew up on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, performing in dance and theater productions with Arts Enter Cape Charles, while commuting to Norfolk and Richmond for pre-professional training. After completing her homeschool education, she entered the Richmond Ballet Trainee Program, performing alongside the company in the corps de ballet.
She later moved to Norfolk to perform with Todd Rosenlieb Dance and Virginia Ballet Theater, where she also began her professional teaching career. Her time there included serving as one of several children’s cast rehearsal directors for Richmond Ballet’s Norfolk tour of The Nutcracker, and working as a resident artist with Experimental Film Virginia.
Back in Richmond, she taught in the Minds in Motion program, bringing dance into public schools, and went on to hold positions at The School of Richmond Ballet, Central Virginia Dance Academy, West End Academy of Dance, Soul Aerial, and most significantly, J’adore Dance, where she spent more than four years working as the Children’s Program Director and Student & Family Coordinator.
Her performance career spans Starr Foster Dance, The Landing RVA, Karar Dance, Dramastic Dance Works, Fringe festivals, musical theater productions, short films, and music videos.
Through Dance With Kierstin, she now offers private lessons and small-group instruction across Central Virginia, specializing in creative dance for children and advanced coaching for teens in ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary.
